MANGO

Baby Mango (Mango de Azúcar)

Pitahaya or yellow dragon fruit, native from Central America, is a fruit shaped ovoid with some bumps , yellow at maturity, with edible small black seeds covered with a sweet transparent pulp.


The Dragon fruit is a moisturizing fruit and with high nutritional value. It contains vitamin A, antioxidants such as betalains, phenols, Gallic acid and betacyanins, which prevent damage to the skin. The amounts of B vitamins it contains help reduce cholesterol levels. 


Its regular consumption, within a balanced diet, contributes to fight memory loss. By helping in the absorption of iron in food, the Dragon Fruit helps in strengthening bones, teeth, and red blood cells. It helps fighing  infections and has antioxidant characteristics. It also reduces the level of uric acid in the blood, preventing Gout and has also been known for its laxative effect.

Purple Passion Fruit (Gulupa)

The Purple Passion Fruit, original from South America, is a purple fruit that has a tough, smooth and thick crust; its pulp consists of small edible black seeds, covered by a juicy semi-acid yellow pulp.

 

It weighs are between 40 and 60 grams and has an average diameter of 5.7 cm.

 

Its main components are vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, and Ascorbic acid. It is also a source of calcium, fiber, phosphorus, iron, protein and magnesium. 


This fruit can be used to help sleep. The leaves contain alkaloids that are used to lower blood pressure. It also helps to improve digestive functions.

Tamarillo (Tomate de Arbol)

The golden berry or Physalis, known as Uchuva in Colombia, is native to the Andean region. It is round, yellow, sweet and small and usually has a diameter between 1.25 and 2 cm. It comes wrapped in a protective shell called capacho or Capuchon.

 

 It is an excellent source of vitamin A, C, B1, B2, B3, Magnisium, phosphate and pectin. Its proportions of B complex help act as an anti-inflammatory. Its vitamin E helps keep skin and hair healthy.

Yellow Dragon Fruit (Pitahaya)

The Tamarillo,  is a brilliant fruit of intense red color that has a very characteristic sweet and sour taste. The skin is not edible, but its pulp is delicious in juices, salads, sauces and chutneys. 


It contains vitamin A, vitamin C and Vitamin B group. It is rich in minerals especially calcium, iron and phosphorus; It has significant levels of protein and carotene, it strengthens the immune system and vision, and operates as an antioxidant. 


It is a good source of pectin, helps absorb iron, strengthens the brain, and is also useful in calming  severe  headache. Studies have shown its positive effect in reducing blood pressure.
